Thailand Submits Application for OECD membership – ประเทศไทยได้ยื่นขอเข้าร่วมเป็นภาคีสมาชิกองค์เพื่อความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจและการพัฒนา (OECD)

เมื่อเดือนเมษายน 2024 ที่ผ่านมา คุณปานปรีย์ พหิทธานุกร รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมยืนยันการเข้าร่วมเป็นภาคีสมาชิกองค์การเพื่อความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจและการพัฒนา (Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) ซึ่งได้รับการตอบรับจากภาคีสมาชิกและประเทศสมาชิกในกลุ่มสหภาพยุโรปเป็นอย่างดี โดยมีเป้าหมายนำประเทศไทยเข้าสู่การเป็นประเทศที่พัฒนาแล้วภายในปี 2037

In April 2024, Mr. Panpree Phahithanukorn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended a pivotal meeting to confirm Thailand’s intention to join the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD). During this meeting, Mr. Phahithanukorn articulated Thailand’s commitment to embracing the principles and standards set forth by the OECD. The proposal was met with strong support and positive feedback from existing OECD members and European Union member countries, who recognized the potential benefits of Thailand’s inclusion in the organization.

This strategic move is part of Thailand’s broader vision to achieve developed country status by 2037. To realize this goal, Thailand aims to implement comprehensive reforms across various sectors. These include enhancing economic transparency, raising standards in education, safety, and environmental protection, and revising relevant legislation to align with international norms. The commitment to OECD membership underscores Thailand’s dedication to fostering a more competitive and sustainable economic environment, attracting international investment, and positioning itself as a significant player in the global economy.
